Dave Otto named brewmaster for PT’s Brewing Company

New concept for PT’s Entertainment Group to open in early 2016

LAS VEGAS (Dec. 10, 2015) – PT’s Entertainment Group (PTEG), a division of Golden Entertainment, Inc. (NASDAQ:GDEN) and the largest traditional tavern gaming operator in Nevada, has named Dave Otto as head brewmaster for its new concept, PT’s Brewing Company.

Otto has more than 18 years of industry experience, most recently as head brewmaster for Big Dog’s Brewing Co. His interest in beer began in New Jersey, where he was a home brewer. After moving to Las Vegas in 1996, he was hired as an assistant brewmaster at Holy Cow Casino and Brewery, which was the first microbrewery in Las Vegas. He took over as head brewer in 1998. In 2003, the company moved its operations and changed its name to Big Dog’s Brewing Co., in honor of its founder, Tom “Big Dog” Wiesner.

Otto is a recipient of several World Cup Beer awards and Great American Beer Festival medals, including a 2015 gold medal for his Red Hydrant English Brown Ale.

“When we decided to take on a brewery concept, we knew we had to hire one of the most sought-after brewmasters in the industry,” said Joe Romano, corporate vice president of food & beverage for Golden Entertainment. “In addition to his experience and award-winning skills, Dave shares our vision to make PT’s Brewing Company something special in Southern Nevada.”

As head brewmaster, Otto said he will be running the entire brewery operation “from grain to glass,” including brewing and cellaring. He will also assist in packaging beer for outside sales to the family of Golden Entertainment properties.

“I have a passion for creating beer from scratch and making people happy with the products we produce,” he said. “Golden Entertainment has given me an incredible opportunity to create new brands, in addition to sharing my ideas for this new concept. I couldn’t be more excited.”

As announced in September, Golden Entertainment is completely remodeling the former Tenaya Creek Brewery at 3101 N. Tenaya Way as its first location of its new brewery-restaurant concept. The brewery will have a capacity of 3,000 barrels of handcrafted beer annually and will establish core brands for the company’s taverns, in addition to producing seasonal craft beers for the company’s PT’s, Sierra Gold and Sean Patrick’s taverns.
